This assessment was developed by Mohawk Sustainability and vetted by The Institutional Research Department. Content was determined by examining best practices used by other institutions. Participants were posed a number of knowledge based questions surrounding challenges facing the environment, economy and the associated social impacts. The survey went live November 25, 2018.

The survey was promoted both digitally (via email announcements, eLearn landing page) and in-person (outreach booths, post-cards, and by professors at the beginning of lecture). The survey was administrated through Institutional Research's survey software which participants accessed through a quick-link.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment, including a description of any measurable changes over time:
Please refer to AC-6 for more details surrounding the assessment as literacy and culture were tied into the same survey. The assessment was completed by 3248 individuals. Of this, 2727 were students. Particpants were asked questions which gauged their thoughts and behaviours surrounding sustainability issues such as waste management and climate change.
Several notable results were observed. Overall, 90% of respondents stated that sustainability was important to them. 40% of respondents said they "always" compost food waste on campus. 50% of students said the often wonder about the impacts of climate change.
Mohawk College looks forward to conducting this assessment again in Spring 2019 to gauge changes in attitudes, behaviours and opinions over time.
