Mohawk College supports our faculty and staff to provide the education and services our students deserve. We offer an enriching, supportive and diverse work environment. Employee groups are paid in accordance with provincial labour laws and adhere to collective bargaining agreements. Mohawk offers a comprehensive benefit package to all fulltime staff. The premiums of extended health care, dental, basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment are covered 100% through the College. All staff are eligible to enroll in the College of Applied Arts & Technology (CAAT) defined pension plan. The college matches employee contributions dollar for dollar. For part-time Mohawk maintains at least the minimum wages that is established by the Ministry of Labour.

The College Employer Council (www.thecouncil.on.ca), is the bargaining agent for the 24 Ontario colleges in negotiating collective agreements. In addition, The Council provides a variety of services for the college system such as advice on human resource issues, collective agreement administration, benefits administration and research. The Council in conjunction with external research firms, provides reviews and recommendations to college boards on employment terms and conditions including compensation and benefits for Presidents and Administrative staff.
The statistic known as the low income cut-off (LICO) is Statistics Canada's most established and widely recognized approach to estimating the income threshold below which a family will likely devote a larger share of its income on the necessities of food, shelter and clothing than an average family. Using a LICO allows StatsCan to estimate an income threshold at which families are expected to spend 20 percentage points more than the average family on food, shelter and clothing.
The lowest annualized salary for a Mohawk regular, full-time employee is $38,747.80.
Statistics Canada’s Low Income Cut-off for 2014 for a family of four for Hamilton/Burlington area is $30,014, well below the lowest salary offered by Mohawk College.

Regular, full-time employees of Mohawk College are offered the following benefits: Insurance (extended health, dental, group life), pension, long term and short term disability benefits, pregnancy and/or parental leave supplementary top-up, vacation, tuition benefits, policies on respectful workplace and sexual harassment, equity, professional development opportunities, onsite fitness facilities, and Employee and Family Assistance Program. The extent of these benefits varies between different employee groups.
