Students are represented on the Mohawk Colleges Board of Governors. The Mohawk College's Board of Governors includes "Internal Governors" being: one student, one academic staff member, one support staff member, and one administrative staff member. New internal Governors and Student Governors are elected according to procedures outlined in Appendix 1 to ByLaw No. 1, Schedules “A” and “B” respectively. the bylaw can be viewed here: http://www.mohawkcollege.ca/Assets/BoardOfGovernors/policies/ByLaw+No.+1.pdf

By participating on the Board of Governors student representatives have the opportunity to provide input on issues, such as:
-The development of a new Academic Plan, released in 2012, outlining new strategies including the delivery of all post-secondary programs in a blended learning format.
-The development of the Student Success Plan, in alignment with the new Academic Plan, which focuses on retention and graduation rates to measure student success.
- Plan and manage the academic offerings and enrollment to ensure high quality programs relevant to community needs.
- Oversight of the College's Financial Statements; including statements of operations, cash flows, and investments.
-Input in the development of The Financial Plan, which is the enabling document that outlines the allocation of resources to deliver on the Strategic Plan. Operating, Fee Supported and Capital budgets that are established by evaluating proposed
activities in relation to their impact on ongoing operations and the achievement of Mohawk`s Strategic Plan.The evaluation of new investment proposals considered how effectively the requests linked to Mohawk’s strategic outcomes and priorities.
-Approving the launch and implementation of the Sustainability Initiatives Fee in partnership with the Mohawk Students' Association. Input on the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan 2.0.
- Participation in the development of the New David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre, New School of Justice and Wellness wing, and closure of the Brantford Campus.
-The development of Stoney Creek and IAHS campus renewal plan and New Data Centre.
