The Environmentally Committed Organization of Students (ECOS) is a student-led group focused on promoting sustainable living among their peers; striving to increase student engagement in sustainability decision-making and initiatives at Mohawk.
ECOS educates their peers through awareness events, face-to-face interactions and an ongoing dialogue focused on environmental issues, to help students better understand their impact on the environment and how to transition towards sustainable living. They are supported by the Sustainability Office.

ECOS student educators are recruited annually through orientation and other outreach events. Students participate on a volunteer basis and undergo a one month training period. ECOS vice-chairs are voted into position by their fellow ECOS members.

New ECOS members shadow an existing senior member for one month as training.

The Mohawk College Sustainability Office provides an annual budget to ECOS for promotions, PR, and training.
In addition to this annual budget, ECOS also receives funding through the campuses electronic waste program.

Keeping Healthy With Mohawk aims to provide a safe community to inspire healthy life practices that will improve the lives at Mohawk. This will be achieved through weekly meetings, seminars, classes and other community events.

The Mohawk Students' Association provides peer-to-peer outreach through class representatives, advocacy, and maintaining an open door policy for all students.

There are three ways that student educators are selected for the Mohawk Students' Association including elected, hired, and volunteer positions. Elected position are determined through a vote from the entire student body. Hired positions are selected through an interview process. Volunteer positions are available for all students who are looking to participate.

Training is determined by the roles and duties of each position. Training can include both external professional training (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Abuse Training, etc.) and peer-to-peer training to familiarize trainees with the position.
