MAHIR Center UM6P

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:

Mahir center provides alternative training for selected graduate students from different backgrounds who decide to join the center voluntary. During a one year training, the center accompany these young people through notions of cultural openness, creativity, soft skills in order to create a sustainable impact in their surroundings. A certificate is delivered to those students at the end of the year.

E-OLIVE – E-solidarity

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:

Since 2016, E-olive is a student project organized each year to produce an extra virgin olive oil of the harvested olives by hand from the Campus Olive grove. The revenue of this project is dedicated to E-Solidarity social activities in order to support one or several community service causes/events.
This project has gathered both students and staff to directly participate in promoting the local products and transform it to an innovative fundraising project.
This projet impact is illustrated in the better management of the campus olive grove and maintaining it for a better social cause.
Economicly, It enabled students to learn how to lead actions based on circular economy.
Socially, The fundraised money from the E-olive product goes directly to social actions organized by E-solidarity club for disadvantaged families. For instance, several campaigns had been organized in orphanage and school orientation session for the low-income students. In addition, Olives are harvested by local farmers from Benguerir.
Environmentally, an Olive tree has a dense and persistent foliage, which gives it a great capacity to absorb and store the carbon dioxide emissions with nearly 5kg Carbone/Year during the tree growth. Thus, this project is based on a sustainable dimension which is offsetting the carbon footprint of the campus.

GREEN ENERGY PARK

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:

The Green Energy Park, a main component of the university infrastructure has a 200 kWp photovoltaic pilot plant using 5 different technologies (c-Si, a-Si, CIGS, CdTe, CPV) from different manufacturers for testing and comparison of different systems of different photovoltaic technologies. The power plant is composed of several systems with a power between 4-23 kWp with different configurations (fixed system, with tracker with a single axis, bi-axial tracker) The systems of different technologies are electrically separated by PV inverters which supply the platform network with the PV energy produced. The PV installation is also able to produce an energetic surplus of 10 MW that will be destined to the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University use. An ongoing project of the energetic connection between The green energy park and the university will be implemented by the end of 2020.
