Does the institution have an ongoing program or programs that offer incentives for faculty in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses?:
Yes
A brief description of the program(s), including positive outcomes during the previous three years (e.g. descriptions of new courses or course content resulting from the program):
Study abroad provides development grants which allows for faculty to travel and develop courses to study abroad.While the incentive is not about Sustainability, many courses developed are about Sustainability and would not be offered without that opportunity.
As a result of this grant, some faculty have created courses in sustainability:
“Renewable Energy Systems”
Dr. Guggenberger’s class will be taught, in part, at the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria, Nicaragua’s premier engineering school. Faculty will teach you how to build renewable energy systems such as solar ovens and phone chargers. Then you’ll take what you learned and apply it to a group design project to develop a renewable energy system for a rural community.
