A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:

Missouri S&T’s Leadership and Cultural Programs (LCP) office provides cultural competency trainings that are available to all students, faculty and staff. LCP Programs include:

• Global Awareness & Cultural Competence Programs
• Cultural & Leadership Celebrations/Socials
• Sponsored Events Promoting Cultural Competence & Leadership

LCP has worked with members of other departments to create a Safe Space and Ally Development Training program for faculty staff and students. Information on that program can be found at http://lcprograms.mst.edu/culturalopportunities/safespace/.

LCP also provides opportunities for students, organizations, and departments to request training on a variety of issues including programs related to cultural competence through our online request system which can be accessed from our website open page at lcprograms.mst.edu.

LCP programs are open to all campus community members, however at least once a year LCP will develop a program that is specifically geared toward faculty or staff. Below is a listing of those programs

• Guest Speaker Amee Lambert presentation on “Developing Intercultural Competence”
• Advising Series Presentation on “What is cultural competence and what does it mean to me?” presented by Jerri Arnold-Cook
• NCAA Diversity Workshop was co-sponsored by LCP and Athletics
• “Becoming a More Cultural Campus” presentation led by Vice Chancellor Shenethia Manuel and Director Jerri Arnold-Cook
