Does the institution offer housing options to accomodate the special needs of transgender and transitioning students (either as a matter of policy or as standard practice)?:
Yes
None
A brief description of the program, policy, or practice:
Missouri S&T offers gender neutral housing to in the Miner Village apartments. Students must self-select to live in gender neutral areas and find all roommates (we do not assign roommates for those who only express interest). Students must also sign a Roommate Agreement for Non-Gendered Housing which focused on the ability to manage roommates and consolidation should some roommates move out. This program is offered to all students.
Specific to transgender or transitioning students, we offer many options depending on the individual student’s preference. This does require the student self-identify to Residential Life. From there, we have meetings with the student to discuss their needs and offer roommate support.
