The mission of the Missouri S&T Green Campus Committee is to continually improve operations and advance campus culture through educating and engaging faculty, staff and students. Our students will become leaders in an arena of changing social, political and technological views in a carbon-constrained economy and a rapidly changing physical world. We will provide them with a campus environment and the necessary skills to meet the challenges ahead.

Green Campus Committee members include Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff, University alumni and members of the local community. The committee serves to advise and help advance sustainability initiatives on the campus.

A brief description of the sustainability coordinator’s position:

Position Title: Director, Office of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engagement (OSE3)

Purpose of Position:

Plan, direct and manage the activities of the Office of Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engagement (OSE3). Directly supervise a staff of professionals in accomplishing the mission of OSE3: to foster strategic alliances that support energy and environmental research, education, and outreach, while leading Missouri 5& T programs to advance campus sustainability.

Set direction and goals for OSE3, develop and implement a strategic plan, and create a culture of continuous improvement. Develop proposals and manage the formation of strategic partnerships and teaming arrangements between faculty members and with outside organizations in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, alternative fuels, environmental sustainability, high performance green building, and environmental management systems. Foster a campus sustainability culture by developing, leading, and promoting environmental initiatives such as energy conservation and management, greenhouse gas reduction, waste and recycling programs, environmentally responsible purchasing, environmental curriculum development, water resources management, and sustainable campus transportation.
