A brief description of the wildlife habitat program, policy, or practice:
Missouri S&T Landscape Services creates wildlife habitat on the campus grounds. The department maintains a 20 acre plot of land that is only mowed once each year. The remaining months of the year, the area is left to create wildlife habitat. Landscape Services works in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Conservation to protect and relocate wildlife, if necessary, as the grounds are maintained.
Additionally, the department supports a Feral Cat Program for the campus in collaboration with the Phelps County Animal Welfare League and volunteers from the campus. Through this program feral cats are protected, provided health care (spayed and neutered), and provided food and water by University volunteers.
