In March 2009, students voted to implement a $2 per semester fee to go towards sustainability initiatives on campus.
Funds from the student fee are then matched by officials within the University up to $75,000 each academic year.
This fund is to be used solely by students for students
The only requirement for submitting a proposal to use the fund is that you are a student.
The Sustainability Commission, made up of six students and several non-voting faculty and staff members, will evaluate all proposals submitted and allocate funds accordingly.

The Sustainability Commission shall consist of the following members:
1. One student who shall serve as Chief Sustainability Commissioner
2. Six students at-large
• No more than two of whom shall be from the same academic college
• One shall serve as Vice Commissioner
• One shall serve as Administrative Coordinator
3. The Vice President of Administrative Services (or appointee)
4. The University Architect and/or Campus Planner (or appointee)
5. Vice President of Student Affairs (or appointee)
6. Director of Facilities (or appointee)
The non-student members of the Sustainability Commission listed above shall have voting rights. Other non-student faculty and staff members may attend meetings, but they will stand as ex-officio members with no vote.
Ex-officio Members shall include
1. Student Body President
2. The Director of Accounting and/or budget liaison (or appointee)
3. A Faculty Senate representative
4. A Staff Senate representative
5. The Sustainability Coordinator and/or Director of Sustainability, as applies (or appointee) serving as Advisor to the Sustainability Commission
