In March 2015, the University released the Missouri State University Campus and Community Climate Study Report. The Division for Diversity and Inclusion collaborated with Diversity Works, Inc., to conduct the climate study with the establishment of a steering committee of individuals from both campus and the community. The project consisted of the following:
1. Climate survey instruments for both MSU students and employees
2. Informal interviews of MSU administrators, faculty and staff
3. Community interviews and discussion groups

A brief description of the most recent assessment findings and how the results are used in shaping policy, programs and initiatives:

Results have been used to shape policies related to diversity climate, academic climate, institutional attractiveness, micro-aggressions, barriers to enrollment access and financial aid.

Since the release of the final report, the university has initiated efforts to address the findings and recommendations contained therein. Particular emphasis is placed on cultural consciousness/competency of faculty, staff, and administrators as a priority. Also, the 2016-2021 Long Range Plan, completed in 2016 incorporated a diversity and inclusion section as one of the six strategic goals and priorities. During the 5 years of the plan each unit of the university will develop specific goals and tactics that will operationalize the plan, direct how the university will allocated its resources, identify which individuals or groups are accountable for implementation and specify the measures by which the plan will be evaluated.

The Missouri State University 2016-2021 Long Range Plan includes a Diversity and Inclusion section that defines/emphasizes diversity, inclusion, cultural consciousness, competency, inclusive excellence and intersectionality: https://www.missouristate.edu/longrangeplan/diversity-inclusion.htm

Results were publicly posted an the University community was notified. The University administration and the CCCSP Steering Committee invited students, faculty, staff and community members to browse the study’s results and provide feedback about its content.
