The Sustainability Coordinator is on the AASHE Advisory Council. This council provides input to the board and staff regarding the development and implementation of AASHE’s strategic plan.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:
Campus dining services, in partnership with Chartwells, mentors colleges and universities across the nation when they are ready to introduce ZipGrow, a vertical farming technology. The mentoring team advises mentee schools on design and purchase of the vertical hydroponic growing units. Once the units arrive the team will often visit the mentee school, assisting with assembly, installation and initial planting. Ongoing mentorship is provided to help with troubleshooting issues and sourcing seeds via Skype. In addition to visiting mentees, representatives are hosted on campus for hands-on training covering the entire process from planting to harvesting.

The formal Missouri State University campus sustainability organization, Students for a Sustainable Future (SSF), has been a key player in MO Love, an inter-state coalition that unites campus sustainability groups from across Missouri. Through MO Love, university groups are given the opportunity to share their knowledge and progress of campus sustainability efforts, brainstorm about ways to make positive change, build bridges of communication and camaraderie, educate themselves about sustainability, and strengthen their leadership skills. Every semester, a designated university hosts an intensive student-led 3 day conference over a weekend. During these conferences, the university groups come together to share, learn, and grow.
