A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to staff:
In 2015, Missouri State University began offering training to all employees on various sustainability topics. Training topics have included sustainable living, energy conservation, and waste reduction and recycling. In addition, the following trainings are offered upon request: 1. Universal Waste - This covers proper management for recycling items like fluorescent bulbs, batteries, and electronic waste. This topic is presented to all Facilities Maintenance and Residence Life Maintenance personnel, but the sessions are open to all employees. 2. Lab Waste Management - Part of this training class involves waste minimization, which considers what people can do to generate less waste. This is presented each fall to (most) all of the Chemistry and Biomedical Science graduate assistants and some faculty members, but the sessions are open to all interested employees.
