A brief description of the institution's stormwater management initiatives:
Measures have been taken since 1995 to comply with the City of Springfield requirements to detain storm water runoff. Some of the projects that have complied with this include Bear Park North, Bear Park South, and JQH arena.
In FY2000, a joint project with the City of Springfield constructed a 500,000 CCF detention basin at the southwest corner of Grand Street and National Avenue. This mitigated the serious flooding of south campus due to impervious campus surfaces. Another detention basin is planned to coincide with the Parking Lot 18 improvements.
