A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
In January 2011, a student submitted a green bike rental program proposal to Missouri State University's Sustainability Commission, a student-initiated body to evaluate proposals and allocate funds for approved projects. The purpose of this proposal is to provide a form of sustainably and economically sustainable transportation for students. The proposal called for 30 refurbished bikes as a trial period to be registered and rented out to students for only $10 a semester to cover maintenence costs. In the next two years, the program will be phased into a larger, campus-wide program with around 100 bikes available for rental.
