A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
In March 2009, students at Missouri State University voted to implement a sustainability fee. This $2 per semester fee per student, matched by administration, goes into a fund specifically for student-initiated sustainability projects on campus. A Sustainability Commission was also created, made up of faculty and five students, to evaluate proposals and allocate funds for approved projects. This entire initiative was student-led and student-approved, with only students eligible to submit proposals to the commission.
