A brief description of the program(s):

Missouri State University offers incentives for faculty in multiple disciplines to develop new sustainability courses and incorporate sustainability into existing courses or departments. For the 2008-2009 academic year, MSU provided a stipend of $8,000 (2 semesters) and teaching release (2 contact hours) for a Provosts Fellow to develop a 3-day sustainability conference and a two semester Convocation Series on sustainability. In 2009, funds were provided for two faculty members to attend an AASHE Sustainability in the Curriculum workshop. In 2010, funds were allocated for a sustainability in the curriculum one-day workshop for 14 MSU faculty. In 2010, stipends of $500 each were given to 14 faculty to develop new sustainability-focused courses or change existing courses to include sustainability (either sustainability-focused or sustainability-related). From 2010 onward, a $5,000 stipend per year, up to three years, is allocated for a Public Affairs Professor in the area of sustainability.

Faculty members that participate in these programs receives stipends of various monetary value. Faculty also receive funds to attend and develop workshops about sustainability in the curriculum.
