Mills surveys the student body every two years utilizing the Higher Education Research Institute Diverse Learning Environments Survey. Mills also tracks student success, including student performance, retention and graduation for students of all demographics.

Yes, Mills' enrollment, on average, is roughly 60% underrepresented minority and 40-45% Pell. The college regularly assesses and reviews institutional effectiveness indicators like student performance, retention and graduation by various student demographics.

Recent results show that Mills underrepresented minorities and Pell students are being retained and graduating at equal and sometimes higher rates than white and non-Pell students. Most recent 4YR graduation rate for Non-Pell students was 58% and for Pell students was 54%. Most recent 4YR graduation rate was 55% for white students and 59% for students of color. Most recent first year retention rate was 73% for Non-Pell students and 80% for Pell students. Most recent first year retention was 71% for white students and 78% for students of color. The college utilized these results to help determine policies and best practices to continue improving student retention and graduation.
