A brief description of the incentive program(s):
Yes, Energy2028 is the College's long term initiative with four goals (100% renewable energy sources, 25% reduction in consumption, divestment, and integration into the education mission. The Provost has set up a fund to incentivize and support curricular development by any faculty member to integrate climate and sustainability topics into their course.
Among proposals that have been funded, one of the more significant is a research consortium that has been formed by faculty of the economics and psychology departments to undertake a long-term (7 years) study focused on identifying what kinds of efforts have the greatest and longest lasting impact on energy use and conservation by students. This project will run for
In addition, we are developing a summer development program with stipends for faculty to attend a two-day workshop to create curricula related to climate and sustainability.
The Provost Academic Council also supports initiatives that further Middlebury’s strategy including those that build upon Middlebury’s Energy 2028 initiative.
