A brief description of the activities and substantive accomplishments of the institution-wide coordinating body or officer during the previous three years:
Members of the sustainability committee (Sustainability and Resilience Group) have created awareness of our current recycling program, reported and published our Green House Gas emissions, reported on our energy portfolio and begun plans for a campus wide training and awareness program for composting. Members of this working group come from all across campus to develop programs/events to make MTU more sustainable including the Sustainability Demonstration House's hosting of the Keweenaw's First Waste Reduction Drive. The Sustainability and Resilience committee has also held a listening sessions to gather information from the campus community to see what actions can and should be done to make MTU more sustainable. Other activities include: making a comprehensive list of all sustainability courses on campus, hosting a green film series, and helping MTU utilize renewable energy sources.
