A brief description of the methodology used to determine the total number of courses offered and to identify sustainability course offerings, including the definitions used and the process for reviewing and/or validating the course inventory :
A survey was administered to faculty. Based on faculty descriptions and self-reports, those particular classes were included in the inventory. The remainder of the inventory was collected by reading through descriptions of each course (undergraduate and graduate). Course descriptions included phrases or topics of sustainability, sustainable development, social/economic/environmental impacts of systems, etc. In addition, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and keyword phrases suggested in the University of Toronto's report available at https://data.utoronto.ca/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/SUSTAINABLE-DEVELOPMENT-conceptual-report.pdf was used as a guide in determining sustainability offerings.
