A brief description of the open access repository:
MSU Commons, launched in 2020, is the first institutional node on the Commons network. “The Commons overall enables scholars and practitioners in any field to create a professional profile, discuss common interests, develop new publications, and share their work.” MSU Commons is a joint project of the MESH Research team in the College of Arts & Letters and MSU Libraries.
The repository integrated into the Commons, CORE, serves as the institutional repository for MSU, preserving and making accessible a wide range of work being done by the MSU community. CORE is a repository for sharing, discovering, retrieving, and archiving digital work, providing Commons members with a permanent, open access storage facility for their scholarly output, facilitating maximum discoverability and encouraging peer feedback."" This is from the url and speaks directly to AASHE definition.
As part of this effort, MSU assumed responsibility for the hosting and development of Humanities Commons, an online network for people working in the humanities. The site was launched by the Modern Language Association (MLA) in December 2016 and has become a key piece of online scholarly infrastructure with nearly 25,000 users. https://cal.msu.edu/news/humanities-commons-is-moving-to-michigan-state-university/

A brief description of the open access APC fund:
MSU provides open access APC funding through several “read and publish” agreements. The list of publishers for which APCs are covered for MSU employees is growing continually. For example, in 2020, MSU Libraries signed a three-year transformative read-and-publish agreement with the De Gruyter publishing house to provide default open access publishing for all articles by MSU authors in De Gruyter journals. https://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2020/new-agreement-to-provide-open-access-publishing-for-msu-authors In addition, MSU maintains publishing discounts for multiple journals.
