A brief description of the certificate program:
The Environmental and Natural Resource Governance Fellows Program brings together a dynamic group of Michigan residents from across a spectrum of interests, including public policy, environment and natural resources, arts, community development, business and philanthropy, to explore governance options for the future of Michigan’s environment and natural resources. The planning and steering committees come to this project with the held assumption that future environmental and natural resource management in Michigan will be undertaken with limited financial resources in the presence of increasingly complex and intractable problems. As a result, our traditional approach to public responsibility for environmental and natural resource management will no longer be sufficient or appropriate. Yet, it is not clear what approach should take its place.
Fellows will participate in a series of learning and discussion sessions, and the final product will be a report of formal deliberations and conclusions about working assumptions, critical barriers and key opportunities associated with the transition to an alternative model of governance for environmental and natural resource management in Michigan.
