A brief description of the program:
Since 2005, MSU Students, parents and staff have been recycling cardboard, boxboard, carpet tubes, plastics 1-7, polystyrene during move in in an effort to divert material from landfill. The program is bi-annual and was made possible through partnerships with Residential and Hospitality Services, MSU Recycling and Surplus, and Dart Container in Mason Michigan and our staff. students and parents.
Move in is a very exciting time at MSU, this program helps students
and parents move in Sustainably and creates awareness about or recyclingprograms.
By recycling strategically, targeted materials MSU diverted
over 137000 pounds of material in Fall 2010. This collaborative program serves as a great example of MSU 's committment to Sustainability and helps us exceed our gaols by decreasing waste by 30% by 2015.
