Landscape Architects work with the Landscape Services department in developing landscape solutions that include the use of native plant materials.

MSU is working to incorporate policies to mandate removal and prevention of invasive species growth on campus in the Campus Master Plan.

The university has also initiated a heritage tree program, in which seeds are collected from initial native trees for re-planting. However, some of these trees are non-native
