A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The Associate Provost of Research and Graduate School Dean searched sustainability research in Faculty180, Miami's faculty activity reporting system. Because that system is no longer in use, the Assistant Director of Proposal Development updated the information using Miami's Cayuse grant proposal tracking.

Highlights of Miami's sustainability research include the following:

Craig Williamson (Biology) works with the Global Change Limnology Lab provides service to the U.N. Environment Programme Environmental Effects Assessment Panel

Jessica McCarty (Geography) conducts research on agriculture and food security, land cover change, climate change, and natural resources management.

Mike Vanni (Biology), Maria Gonzalez (Biology) and William Renwick (Geography) run an NSF funded Long-term Research in Environmental Biology (LTREB) field site near the university.

Tom Crist (Biology) researches the impacts of environmental change on ecosystems services.
