Formal designation was achieved in 2017.
Miami sells Fair Trade products at its campus outlets and all its Dining Halls, and has committed to Fair Trade Education through events on campus. The President signed a Fair Trade Resolution in 2017. There is a student organization dedicated to Fair Trade University .
