At Messiah, we are fortunate enough to have land where we can compost all of our pre and post-consumer food waste alongside our yard waste. We compost thousands of pounds of food waste annually, which includes students and employees who choose to receive a compost bucket in order to compost their home-related food waste.

Swap & Mend - Campus Race to Zero Waste

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
One of the most popular programs is our Swap and Mend program where students and employees can bring clothing items to be swapped, mended by volunteer seemstresses, or donated to a local community partner who either sells or recycles textiles.

Oaks Museum of Natural History

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
The Oakes Museum of Natural History is a unique museum experience for the family, classroom, or group featuring more than 40,000 specimens. The 10,000-square foot museum is home to a collection African and North American mammals, birds, eggs, fish, seashells, minerals, insects, and fossils.
