Local advocacy
A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
From 2021 through 2023, Messiah's Office of Sustainability worked with the PA Department of Environmental Protection to participate in their Local Climate Action planning program. 4 students and a faculty supervisor conducted a greenhouse gas inventory and wrote a climate action plan for Camp Hill Borough where plans and policies were promoted for municipal-level climate action.
Funding for this project came in the form of a fellowship through the development office on campus. This implies support from top administrators (Assoc. VP for Advancement who sits on the President's cabinet).
