We have a monthly newsletter and an annual newsletter. The monthly newsletter highlights sustainability programming on campus. In the Fall, we highlight our sustainability work study students. We also provide energy saving techniques, recipes that correspond with seasonal vegetables and promote upcoming events. Our office also utilizes Instagram and Facebook for social media outreach.

On Messiah's campus, environmental stewardship is highlighted at several locations including on or around our native trees, in rain gardens and at the community garden. We also have signs that show our commitment to Tree Campus USA.

The Office of Sustainability provides a tour to showcase Messiah's Sustainable efforts on campus. The tour guides interested students, community members and high school students through our campus. The tour includes a visit to our dining halls where we collect compost from pre and post consumer waste, our compost piles, the solar thermal area that provides hot water to our North Complex, the community garden where compost is the base of the garden and where we host our student lead agricultural experiences. The tour also includes our Combined heating and cooling plant and our rain gardens.

The Office of Sustainability offers a Sustainable living certification, an option of composting (with our free compost bin service) and through our bike share program.

In addition to the above information, Messiah's Office of Sustainability conducts a commuting survey. This survey is to help the campus understand the transportation habits and needs of the campus community so as to best serve the hundreds of students and employees who travel to and from campus each day. Members of the campus community are encouraged to participate no matter if they drive, bike, walk, or carpool.
In addition, Messiah University's Department of Safety is committed to assisting bicyclists and pedestrians recognize the benefits of biking and walking on campus while reminding them of safety protocols.
