A brief description of the institution’s green infrastructure and LID practices:
Messiah's practices around green infrastructure are driven to ensure the health of the Yellow Breeches creek which runs through campus. The practices to date include:
- repairing and planting of a riparian buffer around the creek
- previous pavement in two parking lots
- curb side cutouts diverting water into pervious pavement or rain gardens
- five rain gardens located around the campuses two newest buildings

The College works closely with our campus planning firm, Derk and Edson, to ensure we are meeting our desire for low impact development, and taking the necessary steps to ensure we protect the health of the Yellow Breeches creek.
