In Fall 2018, Our Director of Sustainability and a Representative from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources presented at the AASHE conference. The title of the presentation was "Think Outside: Educating about Race and Conservation in the Great Outdoors". Also in 2018, Joel Johnson ('17 -SUST Major) – gave a presentation at the University's Humanities symposium entitled “ Throwing Out Thoreau: Learning to Walk”. Additionally, our Director of Sustainability gave a chapel talk in the spring of 2018 entitled "Gift of Good Land". In 2019, Brandon Hoover, Director of Sustainability gave a talk as a part of our Inclusive Excellence series entitled "Ungentrifying Sustainability". The Inclusive Excellence Lectures provide Messiah educators and researchers an opportunity to disseminate research that broadens and advances our understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion across disciplinary boundaries. Additionally, Brandon Hoover, Director of Sustainability and Madi Keaton ('19), AmeriCorps VISTA, provided a presentation entitled "Forced Migration and the Climate Crises".
