A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

In 2019, McGill created its Vehicle Asset Management Procedure, which mandates the purchase of electic vehicles whenever possible when replacing gas and diesel vehicles. According to the Minimum Standard for Vehicle Assets, in general, the requestor should choose an "Electric or hybrid [vehicle] unless incompatible with projected applications."

The Sustainable Alternatives for Vehicle Replacement (SAVR) Subsidy Fund has been implemented in addition to the Vehicle Asset Management Procedure. The SAVR Fund acts as an internal subsidy, making sustainable vehicle purchase options financially accessible to units during the first five years of McGill's SVMP. The funding is open to all units at McGill's Quebec campuses who agree to the conditions. The Fund subsidizes the purchase of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and e-vehicles.
