The Joint Committee on Equity shall recommend University policy regarding under-represented groups, including women, visible minorities, aboriginal peoples, and persons with disabilities. To this end, it shall review the recruitment and status of the under-represented groups at the University and recommend ameliorations to the Senate and the Board of Governors.
We have an Associate Provost (Policies, Procedures and Equity), and an Employment Equity unit within Human Resources. The Social Equity and Diversity Education office provides a variety of products including training, workshops, policy work, and volunteer engagement opportunities for students, staff and faculty.

Together with the LGBTQ Advisor, the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Advisor offers a range of training services. This year, the SEDE advisors are proud to offer the Safer Spaces Workshops. This suite of three workshops covers issues of:

* Diversity and Anti-discrimination
* Queer and Trans Issues
* Issues in Race and Culture
* Indigenous culture and history
* Disabilities and universal design (in partnership with co-facilitators from the Office of Students with Disabilities
* Sexual assault (in partnership with co-facilitators from the Dean of Students' Harm Reduction Officer)
* Employment equity training

In addition, the Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Advisor is available for made-to-measure workshops for departments, units, or student organizations.
