A brief description of the institution’s efforts to support alternative fuel and power technology in its motorized fleet:

The Quebec Ministry of Transport issued a directive in 2014 (included in the supporting documentation) requiring that new vehicle acquisitions be electric vehicles (if light weight type). The use of biodiesel fuel is currently not possible due to the cold climate (>4 months out of the year).

Furthermore, McGill Procurement Services encourages purchasing of fuel efficient vehicles in its request form, stating "lease consider buying the most fuel-efficient vehicle that meets your everyday needs. Look here for guidance on items that affect fuel efficiency and emissions and therefore must be addressed in your Vehicle Needs Statement."
