International: McGill is a member of the International Association of Universities (IAU), the UNESCO*-based worldwide association of universities. In 1990, McGill signed the Talloires Declaration. The secretariat of this inter-university agreement is the University Leaders for a Sustainable Future (ULSF). The following year, McGill signed the Halifax Declaration. McGill was also a participating member in the Montreal Centre d'expertise régional en éducation en vue du développement durable of the United Nations University.

McGill's partnership with Ecole de technologie superieure (ETS)

Founded by École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and McGill University, the Quartier de l'innovation (QI) – officially launched in May 2013 – is an innovation ecosystem in the heart of Montreal. This unique institutional alliance allows the QI to capitalize on the complementary strengths of its founding partners in research, education, innovation and entrepreneurship as well as with their respective local and international networks. Combining diverse and complementary academic resources, the QI offers multiple initiatives to its partners and community stakeholders.
