A brief description of how the institution ensures compliance with sustainable building operation and maintenance guidelines and policies:

While we currently do not self-evaluate with respect to LEED-EB criteria (due to the limited availability of resources), the Facilities and Operations/Residences Sustainability Working Group continually work on improvements to our building operations and maintenance as part of our existing commitments (i.e. internal policies and others). This implies that many factors are already considered, including impacts on surrounding sites, energy consumption, usage of environmentally-preferable materials, indoor environmental quality, and water consumption. For example:
- no new parking spaces are being built on our main campus
- efficient fixtures for water and energy are used
- certified green cleaning products are used in addition to using more durable equipment to reduce waste
- recycling facilities are offered
- continuous (re)commissioning of infrastructure takes place
- metering of steam and energy (on major buildings) is monitored in real time
