1.1. The Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is home to the
The McGill School of Environment (MSE) founded in 1998 as an interdisciplinary collaborative initiatives of the faculties of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Arts and Science with undergraduate programs that aim to bridge the boundaries between disciplines and provide a forum for exploration of the complexity of environmental processes. It currently has 13 jointly appointed faculty in partnership with the above-named Faculties as well as the Faculties of Law and engineering. It draws on the strength from many of its partners and over time has developed some of its own area of concentrated expertise including: Environmental Ethics and Philosophy; Water – physical and policy; Biodiversity, Conservation and Invasive species; Environment and Health; Ecological Assessment.

1.2. The Faculty of Engineering houses the Department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanics which includes an active research group in Environmental Bioengineering.

1.3. The Faculty of Science is home to the Departments of Biology, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and Earth and Planetary Sciences all of which are strongly engaged in environmental sciences.

1.4. The Faculty of Arts is home to the Departments of Anthropology and Economics which contribute to advancement of knowledge in environmental economics and socio-cultural and political aspects of environmental issues.

1.5. The Faculty of Law contributes to the advancement of knowledge through scholars focusing on “Public Policy and Private Resources” with a view for environmental regulation and more specifically on aspects of “international law and the environment”, “the law of the sea”, “environment and sustainable development”.
