The Office of Sustainability participates in and presents at numerous local, regional, national, and international conferences. Presentations this last year have covered the following topic areas: change management; campus energy and GHG mitigation; designing out waste; food and justice; data; climate resiliency; and communications strategy, among others.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:

The Director of the Office of Sustainability works with many universities in a mentor relationship throughout the world and has supported the launch of many Sustainability Programs.

Examples of colleges and universities that seek input include Wellsley, Babcock, Smith to international institutions including Gottenburg, TU Delph, University of Hamburg.

A brief description of the peer review activities:

MIT's Director of Sustainability has peer-reviewed (among others) several Princeton University sustainability efforts including organizational design, data collection, etc.


A brief description of other inter-campus collaborative efforts around sustainability during the previous year :

MIT has engaged in collaborative efforts with its peer institutions in the Ivy Plus Sustainability Consortium focused on collective problem solving, data collection and peer benchmarking, organizational change, etc. MIT has engaged in collaborative planning with local univerisities and businessed on climate resiliency planning, through the Cambridge Compact and other mechanisms.
