Research Inventory

A copy of the inventory of the institution’s sustainability research (upload):
Inventory of the institution’s sustainability research:
This inventory reflects the depth of sustainability related research taking place across all five schools at MIT. The search terms applied by MIT match those required by AASHE and go beyond. [see methodology below]

A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
For data availability reasons, the analysis for this credit considered only ranked faculty at MIT. The methodology was as follows: MIT's Institutional Research group provided a document that lists all MIT faculty members alongside their departmental affiliation. For each researcher, the document also lists the keywords associated with the person's research area beyond those key words listed below. We searched these keywords for sustainability-related terms, such as sustain, green, climate, justice, renewable, energy, carbon, efficiency, pollution, environment, transportation, ecology, and/or urban. For researchers where one or more of these terms appeared, we reviewed the other keywords to confirm that the researcher is engaged in sustainability-related research. The uploaded file above contains a list of these identified researchers.
