Title or keywords related to the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Maryville College Solar Doks (TM)

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :

Two solar-powered outdoor picnic tables, known on campus by their brand name as "The Solar Doks" were installed in Spring 2012 and have been a physical space and sustainability test-bed to understand energy use/reduction, social use of environmental platforms and to encourage campus environmental engagement.

A brief description of any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation (if not reported above):

Led by STARS 2.0 coordinator and Associate Professor of Art and Graphic Design Adrienne Schwarte, surveys about Solar Dok use have been undertaken to learn which campus stakeholders have used the Doks. Faculty office hours, student groups meetings - more than a few non-environmental - and informal student meet-up locations have been among the uses of the Doks. Energy consumption studies continue to monitor Dok energy use, and to calculate the small-but-measureable energy offset in using this renewable energy source.
