A brief description of how multiple stakeholder groups were involved in developing the plan:

The plan was developed by the Environmental and Forestry Advisory Council (EFAC) whose mission is.... This group consists of faculty members, staff in the physical plant, security, our Mountain Challenge Director, a current student, a member of the community and business partner to Maryville College, a vice-president, and an alumnus of the College. Additionally, the plan was reviewed by the Cabinet and Board of Directors as well as a campus-wide forum for students, faculty, staff and administrators was held to provide feedback and further influence the writing of the document.

The plan includes measurable goals of the following (this is a sampling of some of the goals):

Development of a Graduation Pledge for Social and Environmental Justice

Annual Energy Audits

Approval of a certificate program in environmental sustainability

Development of sustainable branding at Maryville College

Development of a website devoted to sustainability at MC

The plan's goals will be measured by annual audits of campus operations and curricular actions undertaken by the college and documented in yearly updates of the plan's progress.
