Sustainability Internship Program

A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):

The Sustainability Internship Program is a student worker program under Marquette University’s Facilities Planning & Management department carried out by the Sustainability &
Energy Management Coordinator.
The mission of the program is to offer a high-quality professional development experience to students in exchange for training and opportunities to work with and educate their peers through sustainability projects that seek to advance sustainability at the university.
Sustainability Interns work to operationalize sustainability through organizing events, developing creative programming and initiatives, conducting peer-to-peer outreach, collecting & analyzing data,
and conducting research. Project content focuses on four main impact areas: academics, operations, engagement and planning & administration.
The program is open to all students and a diversity of majors is encouraged. To join the program, students must apply through a competitive application process. Positions last
throughout the academic term, hiring in the fall semester.

Primarily undergraduate students living on or near campus however, engagement has reached doctoral and graduate students.

A brief description of all other student peer-to-peer sustainability outreach and education programs:

Wellness Peer Educator-The Wellness and Prevention Peer Educator position, housed in the Student Wellness Center, 707 Building Suite 130, gives students the opportunity to create and deliver programming, hone their public speaking and facilitation skills, extensively practice program development and implementation, and collaborate and work as a team.

Members of the leadership team will work with and report to the Graduate Assistants for Prevention and Education Programs. The Wellness and Prevention Peer Educator serves as a member of the peer education team. Throughout the year, the team will develop and assist with programming to encourage a campus-wide climate change surrounding holistic wellness and prevention. The student filling this position should have an overall interest in shaping a healthier and safer Marquette community.  

Wellness and Prevention Peer Educators will be expected to value and empower fellow students, and to assist with various duties in the Student Wellness Center when needed. Members of the Wellness and Prevention Peer Educator team perform their work in a highly collaborative environment and should be expected to work closely with students and professional staff to complete the responsibilities listed below.   https://www.marquette.edu/student-wellness/wellness-peers.php
