A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
Office of Sustainability staff first collected all courses listed in the Course Catalog. Each course was then cross-referenced with Marquette’s Snapshot of the Schedule of Classes to determine which courses were actually offered during spring 2012, summer 2012 and fall 2012. Using the STARS Technical Manual’s Identifying Sustainability Courses examples as templates, staff then looked at each course description to determine if they met the STARS example criteria for sustainability-focused or -related. STARS course examples were used because Marquette has not officially adopted its own definition of sustainability in the curriculum.
How were courses with multiple offerings or sections counted for the figures reported above?:
Each course was counted as a single course regardless of the number of offerings or sections
