A brief description of the institution’s workplace health and safety initiatives:
MacEwan University has a strategy to develop an effective workplace health, safety and wellness strategy and tools that ensure our work environment is safe and that contribute to a culture of health and safety. This strategy is to be developed by June 30, 2015 and includes development of an occupational health and safety management program (and training), a wellness strategy, and the development of an integrated disability management program. MacEwan University currently provides modified work and is an accommodating employer. MacEwan University has an Occupational Health Steering Committee comprised of members from across the campus as well as Occupational Health and First Aid representatives across the campus. Hazard assessment and training will be completed as part of the training included in the occupational health and safety management system program development. MacEwan University has a dedicated position to manage Worker's Compensation Board, short term disability, and Long term disability claims.
