A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):
Underground Parking – Areas The underground parking ventilation at City Centre Campus (CCC) campus and Robbins Health Learning Centre (RHLC) are controlled by carbon monoxide detectors which are calibrated annually. These sensors will start the ventilation systems if the carbon monoxide level goes above 35 PPM. The spaces are heated by a makeup air unit following the Engineers design meeting the governing body ASHREA standards minimum fresh air intake requirements. These unit are monitored through the Building Management System (BMS) Delta Controls system. General Ventilation – Public, Classroom and Office Areas – The air handling units serving these areas are programmed through the building automation system to run continuously during occupied hours and shut down during unoccupied hours. During occupied hours when the ventilation systems are running, the air systems are programmed through the building automation system to maintain a minimum of 20% outdoor air as per ASHRAE ventilation standards. This is accomplished by calculating a mixed air temperature set point based on the measured return air temperature from the space and the measured outdoor temperature. The spaces are heated /cooled by air handling units following the Engineers design and the manufactures operating criteria. These units are monitored through the BMS Delta Controls system. Mechanism to register complaints/corrective measures As part of ISO 9001:2008 MacEwan Facilities setup a process for handling any complaints or compliments. Typically concerns are passed on to the Facilities Support Centre. In house maintenance staff will do a quick investigation and deal with any straight forward issues. Persistent or complex problems are formally entered into the ISO complaint handling system.
