A brief description of the sustainability trainings and professional development opportunities available to staff :
All staff are invited to attend formal sustainability programs: • March 2013: In partnership with SAMU, the Office of Sustainability hosted the biggest Common Ground Festival to-date. The three-day event attracted over 500 community members and staff and included interactive eco-workshops, free bike tune-ups, worm composting kit give aways, and the university’s first farmer’s market. • June 2013: In partnership with Earth Common Journal and the School of Business UN PRME Regional Meeting, the Office of Sustainability hosted Sustainability 3.0, a pre-conference event with Dr. Robert De Vrind, Senior Advisor for Sustainability at the Koning Willem I College in the Netherlands. The event was sold out with 100 registered guests who also participated in an interactive session on cradle-to-cradle product re-design. • February 2014: Organizational Development Day is an annual event offered to all MacEwan University staff. At the 2014 Organizational Development Event on February 19, 2014, the Sustainability at Work session was hosted by Chantal Beaudoin, Head of Sustainability. The session informed staff about MacEwan University's Campus Sustainability Plan, sustainability programs and services, and how staff can get involved and contribute to this vision.

MacEwan University provides professional development funding for courses, seminars, workshops and conferences that may be applied to learning about sustainability. Tuition fee funding and access to all of our campus libraries is available for staff.
