A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
The Office of Sustainability participated in Orientation Welcome events on all campuses in 2012 and hosted a sustainability booth, including a recycling challenge to engage students in a waste and recycling sorting competition to win reusable water bottles. In 2013, the newly formed Sustainable MacEwan University (SMU) student club participated in Fall Fest activities and hosted "One Sustainable Commitment on Campus" and invited new students to take a sustainability pledge and post a picture on the Facebook page. In 2014, SMU had a display at Fall Fest promoting the Re-Love Market, a two day event enabling students to purchase or swap gently used clothing, school supplies, and home apparels at discounted prices.
