A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:
In 2019, the Sustainability Manager regularly offered staff training on the Sustainability Plan and related issues through the annual January and May staff training. There is always at least one session dedicated to sustainability, and often more. It varies each year as staff are able to submit sessions they are interested in.
The Sustainability Manager also regularly gave talks for Wellness and Health at Macalester (WHAM) and the Staff Advisory Council's programs.
Because of campus changes in instruction and events during the Covid-19 pandemic, there have been several online discussions of sustainability related topics open to the entire campus community.

A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
Sustainability staff members and occasionally other staff attend the Upper Midwest Association for Campus Sustainability conference and the Association for Sustainability in Higher Education conference. Travel is paid for by the Sustainability Office and sometimes by other departments (Institute for Global Citizenship, Faculty Travel Reimbursement).
